Testimonials

What others say about me

“To me, Robin is one of those people with whom every conversation sets something in motion. He is incredibly quick-thinking and remarkably strong analytically. I value his view of people and situations very much and always leave our conversations with a new thought. An excellent sparring partner whom I highly recommend.”
Maria Soni Reissfelder

“I deliberately wanted a male mentor and found exactly the right one in Robin. He spots patterns I wasn’t aware of, addresses uncomfortable truths with composure and without judging, and challenges without overwhelming. He’s there for urgent issues too. Things are moving, at my own pace. I truly value our work together and look forward to everything that lies ahead.”
Carola Öhl

Die Türen, die wir wählen

Why a single decision can give your life a new direction

The book is published in German.

Pre-order now

You may have made the most important decision of your life today without even noticing. With the big questions in life you weigh things up carefully: relationship, career, where to live. You think it through, ask for advice and sometimes lie awake at night. Yet the decisions that shape you day after day often do not feel like decisions at all. They happen in half a sentence, in a nod, in the moment you stay silent, give in or let something slide.

You do not think about it, because there seems to be nothing to think about. And yet it is exactly in these moments that you stand in front of several doors, and the one you choose gives your life a direction. On its own such a decision hardly seems to change anything. But you make it again and again. A decision becomes a habit, a habit becomes an attitude, and together they shape you more deeply than anything you spent a long time weighing up.

The big decisions determine what your life looks like. The small ones determine whether it is still yours.

In ten true stories I tell of people whose lives take a new direction at such inconspicuous turning points, and I show why some decisions carry us for a lifetime while others lose their power after a short time.

Sound familiar?

The moments when it really counts

You keep pushing the decision from one week to the next, waiting for that one piece you supposedly still need, and in the end the situation has long since decided for you.

You stand in front of the big meeting, your head turns hot and red, your voice gets thin, and your team watches you talk around what you actually wanted to say.

You have been doing good work for years, and still someone else’s name comes up for the next step, because in the room where it matters nobody mentions yours when you are not there.

You have been leading for a few months and act as if you know exactly what you are doing, while inside you go over every decision three times.

For weeks you have been running behind, your calendar is full, your team is waiting for answers, and you no longer get round to leading because all you do is clean up after things.

If you recognise yourself,
you are in the right place.

What I offer

Three formats

Wherever composure is needed, I work in three formats: keynotes & talks, trainings & workshops, and 1:1 mentoring & sparring.

I have already given talks and trainings all over the world, including in Shanghai, Dubai, Atlanta, Madrid and Moscow.

About me

Founder, insolvent debtor, team captain, economist, manager, authorised signatory, restaurateur, speaker, entrepreneur, trainer, mentor, author.

I learned the most from the second word. Everything that follows started there. If you only know one world, you can only talk about that one world.

I was a manager and authorised signatory at a Big Four firm and sat in C-level negotiations from Shanghai to Moscow. At 20, as an entrepreneur, I was jointly responsible for the market launch of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class in south-west Germany, and at 22 I was facing insolvency. After that I was a manager at a US corporation, in an environment of high speed and high standards. In sport, I finished in the top 1 percent at the Strongmanrun, ran a marathon through the night at minus five degrees and led an amateur team of TSV 1860 Munich onto the pitch as captain.

As different as these worlds are, they all taught me the same thing: in the end, one single ability decides whether you hold your own, and that is composure. And once you have mastered it, you carry it into everything, into every role, every stage, every decision.

That is exactly the ability
I teach you.

About me

From real life

My experience does not come from books or seminars. It comes from real life. I know what I am talking about because I have lived it myself.

There are many people who talk about entrepreneurship but have never founded a company, who talk about leadership but have never carried responsibility, and who talk about pressure in sport but have never competed at their limit. With me it is different. I completed two degrees, was a manager and authorised signatory at a Big Four firm and a manager at a US corporation, founded my own company, failed and got back up again. And I know pressure in sport from my own experience, from half marathons and marathons to HYROX races and the Strongmanrun, and as captain in amateur football at TSV 1860 Munich. What I pass on is well founded and comes from real life, not from books.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Which offer suits me or my company?

For companies there are three routes: the keynote as an impulse for your event, the training for working with a team and 1:1 mentoring for individual leaders. As an individual, you work with me in 1:1 mentoring, whether you are a leader, an entrepreneur or a professional athlete. Which format is right for you depends on what you are facing right now, and we will clarify that within a few minutes in our first conversation.

What actually changes, and how quickly?

You make decisions more clearly instead of pushing things ahead of you for weeks, you appear calmer in front of large groups even when the pressure is high, and you lead your team from a clear stance again instead of from your inbox. Because we work on your real situations from the very start, you take something away from the very first sessions that you can apply the next day, and the people around you usually notice the difference within a few weeks.

I have done something like this before and it did not help. What is different with you?

Most programmes stop at models and exercises that someone has read up on. I have led, founded, lost and rebuilt myself, and I know the pressure of a corporation just as well as the pressure of competition. That is why we do not talk about composure in the abstract, we tackle the meetings, conversations and decisions that are really coming up for you this week.

What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?

A coach asks you questions and helps you find your own answers, while a mentor has already walked the path you are on and tells you clearly what he would do in your place. I was a manager and authorised signatory at a Big Four firm, a manager at a US corporation and founded my own company, and I bring exactly this experience into my business mentoring so that you leave every session with a clear direction for your next decision.

Can composure really be learned, and will it work for me?

Yes, and I do not know that from a textbook. At 22 I was left with nothing and deeply in debt, and I built my composure over years, in a corporation, as an entrepreneur and in sport under real pressure. Composure is not a talent that you either have or do not have, it is a skill that can be developed in a targeted way, and because we always work on your specific situation, your starting point is secondary.

Who is this not for?

For anyone looking for a list of fifteen techniques that already exist a thousand times over and fizzle out after two weeks. With me, it is about changing your inner stance, and that takes time, but it then carries you for years. It is also not about trying something out now and then, you put what we discussed into practice in your everyday life, in the very week we talked about it. If you are ready for that, you are in the right place with me.

How does the collaboration work and where does it take place?

It always begins with a first conversation in which we clarify your situation, your goal and the next steps. After that, mentoring usually runs over several weeks in a fixed rhythm, so that there is enough everyday life between sessions to really put into practice what we discussed. Mentoring takes place by phone or in person and never by video, because a camera only distracts and each of us should be fully focused on our conversation, and I hold trainings and keynotes on site with you or online, whichever suits you better.

Does this stay between us?

Yes, without exception. Everything you tell me stays between us, and the same applies to the fact that we work together at all. On this website you will only find testimonials from people who have expressly agreed to their publication, and I handle everything else the same way.

What does it cost?

My fee per session is always the same, no matter how many sessions we agree on, because I do not want you to decide on something because of a volume discount. What a collaboration costs overall therefore depends only on the format and the scope, and we define both together in the first conversation.

Do I pay for this myself or does my employer cover it?

If you are employed, it usually goes through your development budget, because that is exactly what it is there for, and for most of my clients in leadership positions the company covers the costs in the end. You receive an invoice from me that you can submit to your HR department, and if someone there needs something in writing about content and scope beforehand, I will send it to you. As an entrepreneur or self-employed person, you invoice it directly through your business. Send me a no-obligation enquiry via this website and I will get back to you personally.

Composure

Nobody can carry it for you. Not even AI.
I bring it to where it is needed.
